BackJan 24, 2008

ELECTRONICS: The electronics manufacturer SVI Plc says strong demand from European clients should increase its revenues and earnings growth this year.

SVI estimated its 2007 sales at US$168 million, slightly higher than its $160-million target, and expected sales to rise at least 10% to $180 million this year, in line with analysts' forecasts, said CEO Poe Lothongkam.

"In the last three years, our sales rose almost 25%. In 2008, growth should continue and we have a sales growth target of 10-15%," Mr Poe said, adding that 70% of sales would be to European clients.

"Net profit should rise at the same rate as sales."

Three analysts polled by Reuters forecast a 2007 profit of 320 million baht, up 8.5% from 2006, on revenue of 5.6 billion baht. In the first nine months of 2007, net profit rose 27% to 263 million baht.

SVI shares closed yesterday on the SET at 1.29 baht, up two satang, in trade worth 9.32 million baht.
